Alexis says uh-oh...

Here is a little glimpse of Alexis and her first words. And no, I don't know why I only film in the tub.

Fozzy turns 2!

Birthdays…
I don’t know why but I try to get Jeffrey, and Alexis when she’s older, excited for other people’s birthdays. I’m not sure exactly but I guess it’s because I want them to be excited for someone else. I’m hoping it teaches a life lesson of happiness for others. It’s also a plus on their birthdays because they get excited too. With that being said…Fozzy (our dog) and Jeffrey are 11 months apart. So last year Fozzy turned 1 and we got very excited, we even got him Puppy Paws ice cream and sang. We did this so Jeffrey would get prepared for his birthday in a month.

This year, Jeffrey has taken over all the excitement. I joked around and asked him what we should buy Fozzy, he said we should buy him the movie “Cars”. I told him at the beginning of the week Fozzy would have a birthday. All I had to do was say “Happy Birthday Fozzy”… and that was it. Jeffery was so excited! He kept saying “It’s Fozzy’s birthday! It’s Fozzy’s birthday!” over and over. I think “Fozzy’s 2 now.” Was in there as well.

Jeffrey carried this excitement with him to day care. He came running in telling Ms. Vickie the same thing. I guess he was very excited. He apparently told Danny’s mom about Fozzy. His excitement must have won Ms. Vickie over because when I went to go and pick them up, Fozzy had a present in Jeffrey’s cubby!!! I could not believe. Ms. Vickie told me it was the best thing she could do on short notice. It was so sweet of her.
Jeffrey was all excited to show Fozzy. After dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Fozzy and took a picture.

I am not sure if I’m raising caring kids or complete dog lover lunatics. I guess only time will tell.

Hot Temps and Choney Man

It has been freakin’ hot over here! And to think that last Wednesday, 4-15, I would not wear a jacket in protest. It was the middle of April. Why should it be freezing? Be careful what you wish for…

I am not going to lie and make up some ridiculous temperature; all I know is that it was hot! I picked up the kids early, poor Jeff didn’t even try to go outside. He opted to stay inside with Lexi. After an episode of Handy Manny, he asked to change his clothes because he got yogurt on them. I agreed. He comes back in this…
He asked to stay like that because he was too hot. Eh, what the heck? Why fight him? And to all you out there reading, NO, he didn’t get the idea from Aaron!

9 months

My Dear Lexi Kendyl,
You are officially 9 months. Where as the time gone? It seems like it was yesterday that you left the hospital and you were our little glow worm.
I don't have your exact weight and length but we'll know next month.
With each passing day, you are showing your little personality. Here are some highlights from this month
  • You finally have teeth. You cut and show your two bottom teeth when you smile
  • Food - You have started meats, yogurts, puffs, and cheese. You were not fond of the yogurt and cheese and the beginning, but you now look forward to them. Meat on the other hand... You took pretty well to the puffs, but had some trouble at the beginning.
  • Handy Manny - You have begun to dance to the Handy Manny theme song. You bounce around when you hear the song. This is the song that Mommy will sing to while you eat your dinner.
  • You are really starting to notice and sometimes mimic Jeffrey's behavior. I am convinced that you sometimes have shouting matches.
  • While in the car, you wake each other up from naps and continually tap the other till s/he is awake.
  • You have starting standing, holding on to furniture. You have yet to pull yourself up, but you like the new perspective.
  • Swimming lessons - you and Jeffrey started them this month. You like the water and love splashing, but you don't like to be slashed. When it happens, you take it like a trooper!
  • Crawling update- you are trying to crawl. You get in the position, but in fear of toppling or belly flopping you stop. I'm guessing in true Lexi fashion, when you're ready, you'll do it.

That's all for this month. We look forward to more of your kisses, smiles, and giggles!

All my love,
Mommy

Silly babies

Here is a clip of silly babies in the tub

Easter Sunday

We celebrated Easter Sunday here at our house. It was so nice not to have to drive and have people here. Jeffrey was so excited to have people at his house. We began our morning by having the kids open their baskets from the Easter Bunny.

The Easter Bunny was very generous due to his ‘forgetfulness’. The Bunny would forget what he bought at various stores. When the Bunny had everything out, it was quite a bit. I don’t think Aaron was too happy with the bunny.

The family came over – My parents, Aaron’s Dad & Frankie, Kris & Bear, Sandy & Javier & kids, and Tita, Tito, Uncle Jimmy and Tulul. The only member from the Ponce household not able to make it was Stitchy. (Fat camp? Just kidding!)

We held our annual Egg toss and Easter Egg Hunt. Surprisingly My mom and Sandy won! Karina and I came in third. True to Kavanagh form, Aaron and Russell (his Dad) tried pulling some tricks. And Aaron says only the Ponces cheat….

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed everyone’s company. We capped the day off by having our parents do the Wii fit, but no one allowed me to take pictures…

Easter Egg Hunt/ Coloring eggs

Today was the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Where kids are there just to have fun and the parents are there to take pictures. Events like this can be fun, but can also piss me off. I am the type of parent where I’ll get there an hour early, save a place for my kids, and wait for the event. It’s the way my parents did it, and as a kid, I appreciated it. However, there are some parents who do not practice the same behavior, and this is what frosts my cookies. We got there with plenty of time to spare, and sure enough some people tried cutting in front of me. (Notice I said tried… you’d be surprised what a few accidental elbows and dirty looks will do) Call me petty or mean… fine. But don’t get in my kids way. (I take that animal instinct thing to heart)

Anyhow we got out on the field. And we told Jeffrey our plan, run to the back and you’ll find the most eggs. They started counting down, and the minute they hit one, Jeffrey took off. He ran out in front of everyone, most kids just walked to the closest egg. Aaron and I were walking fast and laughing most the time, it was funny. Alexis participated, as well. She sat as and wanted to eat the eggs. After a while, she got tangled up with the basket and gave up.

Later in the day, we dyed Easter Eggs. Jeffrey had a blast. He felt he had to have an egg in each color, or he wasn’t doing anything. I tried giving Lexi an egg, but once again she tried eating it. So, she just hung out, and was a trooper. Aaron, as usual, tried mixing the colors and tested my patience. (I am one of those people who have to have order)

Simming Lessons

So we have finished our first week of swimming lessons. Well, it’s really a Parent/Tot class where one parent gets in the water with the kid. It’s no instruction, just about having fun in the water. Both Jeffrey and Alexis are taking the class and I’ve made some observations:

1. Class is stressful – not the class itself, but getting there and leaving.

2. Most kids cry when they get into the poll, ours cry when they get out.

3. Jeffrey has a ‘crush’ on his swim teacher. He is a flirt, we’ve seen it, .(He once tried to impress a BJ’s waitress by eating hot spaghetti and then spitting it out when she wasn’t looking). This time he swims around trying to get her attention. He tells her Finding Nemo is his favorite movie. 2 weeks ago he told the Pinocchio ride operator Pinocchio was his favorite movie.

4. Alexis likes to splash, but is not fond of being splashed. Her favorite activity is laying on her back against me and kicking her legs. She is happiest this way.

5. Each class ends with a song. I apparently do not know the beginning of “The Wheels on the Bust”.

Here are some pictures of our experiences so far…

Yard work

So we have been in the house for about 2 years now, and have finally together done a yard day. (I used to have pregnancy as an excuse) Now if you are family, yes it’s because we’re having Easter here.

Aaron and I worked our tails off and got it together. Yes, I did help. I’ve kept the secret that I do yard work from Aaron for almost 3 ½ years or marriage, but I figured I'd do the work. Aaron is not as nice as my Dad used to be when I lived at home. After working hard, I would ask him, “Daddy, am I done yet?” The answer was usually yes – whether it was because I was actually done, or he just wanted me out of there- I don't know. When I’d ask Aaron, he’d reply, “No, keep going.” Hmph!

Anyhow here are the before pictures.

And after... I think these may be the same picture...

It has now become a game of sort to see whose flowers will grow. I will mentioned that Aaron chingad my flowers on the way home, so I am already starting behind. If I notice that his are growing, he may see a man made disaster....

The time has come

I knew the day would come. It was the right thing to do, but it does not take away me being a little sentimental. We officially retired the carrier; we believe it is for good, but not sure. If my family is reading this, they are probably freaking out unless it’s Kristina who wants me to have a whole litter of kids.

I am almost positive we are done, but you never know. I’ve been told it’ll hit when we go to retire the crib. I’ll come back to this topic in about a year and a half.

Anyhow, so our little baby will now be in her big girl car seat, with Jeffrey in his booster. Where did the time go?

3 is the NEW 2

I’ve heard this phrase before. I thought it was just something new, a fad. Now that Jeffrey is nearing his 3’s I am starting to believe it. Jeffrey has been pretty easy and for the most part well behaved… until now. He has turned into this little … monster. He is now more than ever into EVERYTHING! It’s not just simple things.

Today out of all days, Aaron’s game was running really late, so I had the kids. Today alone Jeffrey has managed to mark (in pen) our computer desk, our monitor, and Mr. Giraffe- Take a water bottle and water my couch- and take the spray bottle and clean the bathroom mirror.

So yeah… that has been my day. I’m hoping this is a phase. If not, this kid is going to stink… without water and powder :b

Guido the Terrible

“Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? The big, bad wolf.”

That’s usually how the song goes, but not in our house. I don’t know why but Alexis is now afraid of one of her toys. When Santa first brought it to her, it brought nothing but joy. Now this scary thing brings our poor Lexi to tears. I first thought it coincidence and she was tired. Nope. We put it in front of her again, and she dropped her lower lip and began bawling… Here is a picture of this horrible thing.

I hope you didn’t get too scared.
