One month later

I can’t believe it’s been almost a month that I’ve blogged. Well, I guess it has been a month.

This month has been consumed with softball and baseball.

As I’ve mentioned both Aaron and I are coaching, and I did not realize how much time this would take. Every day the question arises, “Who has the kids?”

Don’t get me wrong, I love coaching. And it’s nice to do something that’s so natural, and just get back into it. The girls have made it both enjoyable and stressful. However, no matter how much fun I am having, there is an amount of guilt I have. It has always been our dream to both coach, and have our kids there with us. I’m sure there will be a time where that may happen, but until it does make me feel sad I’m not there with my babies.

This week alone we’ve played 10 games in 7 days. Aaron went 3-1, I went 2-4. “How do we do it?” This is a question I get quite often. My answer is quite simple. “I don’t know.” A lot of patience, time, and energy, I guess. Not a lot of late nights, as I’m usually in bed by 10.

My entire family has always set the example of being there for one another. Yes, we’re there for every occasion – weddings, birthdays, bbqs, etc. But if there is one thing we’re known for, is being there for one another. My family has been nothing short of amazing these past few weeks. They’ve come up for a couple of weekends. They’ve met us half way to do a kid exchange. They’ve bent over backward to help us fulfill our coaching obligations. I didn’t know that at 32 my parents would still be coming to my rescue, but we couldn’t be more thankful. The kids view this as a vacation. Each night they go to bed watching Disney movies, and in the morning it’s cookies with Gampy and Grandpa Ponce. They’ve gone to Disneyland, the LB Aquarium with Tia Kristi and Bear. As I write this, I’m realizing they aren’t missing us at all!
As I know my family reads this but doesn’t ever comment….. Thank you for helping us and loving all of us SO much!

Andrew's 3rd Birthday

This past weekend we went to OC to celebrate Andrew's 3rd birthday. Jeffrey was very excited and couldn't wait to go.

Jeff & Lexi enjoyed themselves. They had fun playing games and Jeffrey wanted to have his face painted. He came back looking like this...

I know I'm biased, but I thought he made a cute little tiger. I thought he was adorable, and I thought of something. How are we going to get this off? He of course wanted to go home looking like this, and wake up to it. He even told us, "My Tia Kristi said I should keep it till so I can show my friends at Ms. Vickie's!"

Yes, Jeff. We're going to leave your face like this for a whole 2 days!!! And thanks to you, Kris. We finally cleaned it the next morning, and apparently not well. As Aly, who played in Lancaster this weekend, pointed out some yellow/orangish coloring on Jeff's face :p

Their favorite had to be the cupcakes. Alexis loves her desserts. For Aaron's party she saw Aaron's pie, and kept yelling, "CAKE! CAKE! CAKE!" and did not eat her dinner. She had too many bites of cupcake as she talked, sang, yelled and tried to wake up her brother ALL THE WAY HOME! She didn't stop until we hit the 14 and she finally went to sleep. Can you say sugar rush?!?!

We were all happy to be home. We love going to OC, but there is something to be said about being home as a family.

Tita's 84th Birthday

On Valentine's Day weekend, we celebrated Tita's birthday. Since her stroke, we've never taken anything for granted, and take every opportunity to celebrate each other.

Almost all of us were able to make it, but she enjoyed having everyone there for her. I was questionable up till the time, as I was feeling like crap, but we made it.

We weren't sure where to go, and finally decided on Pat & Oscar's. Great food and a great time. Perhaps we'll go back for their Anniversary.

Happy Belated Blogging Birthday to Me

And here I am once again. I looked and can't believe that has been almost a month since my last post. Seriously, where has the time gone?

I did miss my bloggin birthday, and I laugh because my first post was about being a baseball widow, and now here I am coaching...

The biggest thing going on in our lives is the season. We have not been Head Coaches since 2005, and that was when we were engaged and in love. Now we have 2 kids, and time is precious. Each day is the question is asked, "Who has the kids?" It has always been a dream for both of us to be coaching with the kids on the field, but for now it's hard work to keep our family running.

Well, I'm off. It's 9 o'clock and I'm off to bed :p

Happy 30th Birthday Aaron!

Our birthday's usually signify some pont of the year. Mine, March, means it's Spring Break. Jeffrey's, May, means that school is almost out. Alexis', July, means that summer is almost over. Aaron's, January, means the beginning of second semester aka end of Winter Break.

Aaron didn't want a big party, he's not the center of attention kind of guy. He wanted to keep in low key and have it at home. This is the first time I'd really hosted a dinner party for say. We had our parents and sisters over.

We had it catered by Dave's BBQ - one of Aaron's favorites. I made desserts to commemorate the occasion.

Aaron's dad brought over the Beatles Rock Band. It was right up our alley. We all took turns, some of us even giving shoutouts to Lancaster : >

Dinner was great, dessert was just as great. Aaron enjoyed hid pie and opened his gifts. My favorite part of the gifts was when Aaron opened my card. I think it suited his tastes quite well.

We had a great time and LOVED having our families over.

Jeffrey goes Ice Skating 01/01/10

Aaron played Hockey as a kid, and truly enjoys the ice. The only purpose ice serves in my life is to chill my beer. Aaron really wanted to take Jeffrey ice skating. There are certain things I do not enjoy... rollercoasters and skating are the tip of the iceberg... but I do not want to project these fears onto my children. It's a fine line and I hope I am able to let them do what scares me.

I did not ice skate with them. I truly think a dog wearing high heels (think Bowfinger) looks more natural than me on skates.
